promisekeepers
Promises, promises…
Promises were made.
Voters believed.
What were some of their promises?
Police would not be cut.
Fire protection would not be cut.
Public Transit would not be risked or cut.
City Council is now facing the cold hard facts of today. Police and Fire protection, two of the most vital services to our city, are now facing cuts. The income tax proposal was voted down. And the city council members who made the promises above are being silent.
No mention, no apology, no sad nod to history, no regrets.
What do they plan to do about the broken promises?
- Make Excuses? (Water Street is a popular one. So is the economy, but our city knew we were going to be in this spot when the vote happened).
- Pass the buck? (The Mayor may end up being the scapegoat for their unfilled promises.)
- Pretend like this budget crisis is not their fault?
You must let your voice be heard. Why were you promised one thing and are now being handed another? Ask Pete Murdock and Brian Robb about their promises. Tell them that cutting is not a solution that you expected from them. Demand that they come through on their promises.
